Wales - Last Day

On a warm, humid, but cloudier day, we decided that our best chance of getting the one bird species needed for our 'Wales 100 challenge' would be to make a visit to the coast at Clarach Bay near Aberystwyth.

On arrival we scanned the shoreline, finding OYSTERCATCHERS and four Gull species, those being LESSER and GREATER BLACK BACKED GULLS, HERRING GULL, and BLACK HEADED GULL. Out on the sea we could make out GANNETS and CORMORANTS, but as well as these, there were a few loose flocks of smaller birds flying low across the water, which after some careful scanning turned out to be our 100th species - GUILLEMOTS!

So right at the death we succeeded in our welsh challenge, a very enjoyable one it was too!

I'll sign off with a few images, icons of the welsh countryside.
