A showery morning, with a few bright spell didn't produce too much excitement on todays patch visit.

Only the KINGFISHER and the COOTS were of any note on the lakes, but the surrounding Scrubby Woods and bankside cover had a good spread of regular species today, with GREAT SPOTTED and GREEN WOODPECKERS, BULLFINCH, SONGTHRUSH and JAY, all being seen, as well as a mixed feeding party of BLUE TIT, GREAT TIT, a couple of TREECREEPERS, 4 GOLDCRESTS and a COAL TIT.

There were 4 MEADOW PIPITS on the Ashes Lane Fields, over which a CORMORANT flew, eventually circling over the lakes area, where shortly after a mix of HERRING and BLACK HEADED GULLS around 50 strong were seen excitedly calling a rushing about the sky, the cause of all the fuss was a COMMON BUZZARD   :-)

Just the male KESTREL was seen around the Greenhouse Grounds, where there were plenty of DUNNOCKS, ROBINS WRENS and CHAFFINCHES, but only a few BLACKBIRDS were seen, where are they all this year?

Out on the paddocks and sheep pasture of Migrant Alley there were a flock of at least 200 STARLINGS, but nothing else of much note, just the Corvids were with them.

This afternoon it was more sunshine and showers, so I took the opporunity of getting a few garden bird photo's, I'll use them over the coming posts   :-)

Here's a few to kick off with.

Excellent garden pics again Warren. I got a soaking again today - not happy - I'll leave you to guess where at.

Hi Pete,
Looks like this winter is shaping up to be like the last, wet windy and warm!
